Wofford Burt Attorneys have experienced joy in this season through giving back to the Charlotte community safely and creatively.
Laura Burt assisted local nonprofit Fashion & Compassion to pivot during the pandemic by sparking an idea to provide much-needed masks. As relayed in a recent article:
That’s about the time Beth received a phone call from an F&C supporter, Laura Burt. “Beth, have you thought about making face masks? Everyone is going to need a face mask.”
The first time Laura suggested the idea, Beth didn’t listen. “I was so focused on what how to keep our Artisans and organization solvent, I could not begin to imagine a new product.”
A week later, Laura called again. “Beth, I found a pattern for face masks.”
Fashion & Compassion envisions communities where formerly vulnerable women live abundant, purposeful lives through its mission to create empowerment communities where vulnerable women connect with God, one another and resources as their lives are transformed. Wofford Burt attorney Rebecca Wofford was a volunteer judge for the Assistance League of Charlotte’s Teen Court this week. This program provides an alternative criminal justice option to first-time teen offenders. Teen Court met safely — part of the group wore masks and maintained a safe distance while the remaining volunteers attended via zoom.
